The Festival will start with a real Ooompah with our authentic tribute to the Munich Oktoberfest sponsored by Lufthansa and award-winning German beer brand Veltins. This year we're creating a full-on Bier Keller on the Square - the perfect Autumn pop-up drinking destination.

There'll be Bavarian beers provided by Veltins, one of Germany's oldest and most established Braueries, and steins of their refreshing  pilsner will be the order of the day. Clean and herbal, this beer is a perfect illustration of how to balance delicate malt with lots of tangy hops. The result is a seriously drinkable beer, awarded best pilsner at the 2007 World Beer Awards.

To soak up some of the beer, Oktoberfest partners Kro will be serving up tasty traditional Bavarian and German sharing platters of meat and sauerkraut, the perfect accompaniment to those hoppy flavours.

To keep you entertained, the whole Bavarian experience will be topped off with perfermances from authentic Bavarian themed and local brass bands.

The Oktoberfest Bier Keller on the Square will be happening for the whole of the Festival "Opening Session" (7-12th) is free to attend, and accompanied by a plateful of other food and drink fun such as Street Food Fair, Kids Food Fest, Chilli and Chocolate.

The Oktoberfest experience will be taking over the Square on the 8th, as we extend the merriment to the big 'Gastro Room' Marquee, with live music and the chance to win flights to Munich to visit the Christmas Markets courtesy of Festival sponsors Lufthansa (see below).
